Preventing supply chain disruption in raw materials and equipment is critical to semiconductor manufacturing because fabs operate with extremely high capital intensity, long qualification cycles, and minimal tolerance for downtime. Shortages or delays in specialty gases, chemicals, wafers, photomasks, resists or advanced tools can halt production, compromise yields, and cascade across multiple downstream industries such as automotive, defense, healthcare, and consumer electronics.
Given the globalized and highly concentrated nature of semiconductor supply chains, disruptions—whether from geopolitical risk, logistic failures, or single-source dependencies—translate directly into lost revenue, delayed technology roadmaps, and national security concerns.
